National and state environmental laws like the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) slow down siting and deployment with burdensome reviews and assessments that cost millions of dollars and years of delays. These laws, and others across the country, need to be modernized to speed critical energy and nuclear construction and deployment in order to address the urgency of the energy demands for advanced nuclear power.
